Engagement Opportunities During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Posted

We have been closely following the COVID-19 pandemic and listening to guidance from those leading our health care system’s response.

We recognize that some engagement opportunities may not proceed in their original timelines due to the system’s response, and thank our patient and health care partners for working together to reschedule activities. We encourage health care partners to heed the latest advice from officials regarding whether in-person meetings/events should still take place, and to consider if they could be accomplished through online platforms or teleconferences. We also encourage patient partners to let their health care partners or engagement leaders know if they have questions or concerns related to in-person meetings/events.

This week’s engagement opportunities newsletter featured two new engagement opportunities, which is fewer than we would typically see and shows how work is shifting as BC’s health care system responds to the COVID-19 pandemic. Moving forward we’ll likely continue seeing fewer engagement opportunities and more virtual participation within those that do take place.

Please reach out to your engagement leader if you have any questions or concerns about current engagement opportunities. We’re committed to communication and building connection among our patient and health care partners, as well as finding new and creative ways to support patient engagement during the system’s COVID-19 response.

For the latest information on COVID-19, including how to protect yourself and others, symptoms, community resources and travel guidance, refer to the BC Centre for Disease Control. The Ministry of Health has also developed a BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool that you can use to determine if you need further assessment or testing.

This is a challenging time for the health care system and British Columbians. We thank you for taking steps to keep yourself, your community and your loved ones safe and healthy.
