Aim

To improve MyHealthPortal, by seeking input from patients on what they wish to be able to see in their portal and provide feedback on past and present experiences. The focus group members will be encouraged to share their opinions and ideas on current and future content considerations.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of involve on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will involve patients in planning and design phases to ensure ideas or concerns are considered and reflected in alternatives and recommendations.

Eligibility

  • Must have a MyHealthPortal account
  • Must live in the Interior Health region
  • Willing to share your voice and opinions

Logistics

Vacancies: 10-20 people Location, Date, Time and Frequency: An initial 2-3 hour informal session to be held by mid-December, with the option of a follow-up session to build on the discussion areas from the first meeting, if required. We anticipate these sessions to take approximately 2-7 total hours of participants time. Our hope is to complete the focus group session and any subsequent follow-up by the end of January.

Reimbursement

The focus group sessions will be offered in-person for those that live in the Central Okanagan area (Vernon, Kelowna & Penticton) and wish to attend face-to-face (snacks will be provided). Basic travel costs (mileage and parking) for these participants will be reimbursed. For those that cannot travel or live outside of the Central Okanagan, we will provide telecom and video conferencing options.

Background

With initial content expansion rollout in the patient Portal back in September 2018, some content areas were not enabled on the Portal. Now that a year has passed, and in the effort to expose as much of patients personal health information as possible, we are exploring those exempt content areas to determine if there is a desire by users to now make available in a patients’ MyHealthPortal account. Subject areas discussed may include, but are not limited to, content such as mental health reports, emergency department visit reports and medical imaging reports. Involvement in these focus groups may include the Project Manager, technical team members, Communications as well as other leadership.
