Join us for an engaging conversation about how AI and your data can transform heart failure care and potentially our health care system.

UBC Data Science and Health Research Excellence Cluster is organizing a CIHR Café Scientifique event on Thursday, April 25th, 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm at Vancouver General Hospital.

The goals of this event are to demonstrate a novel AI-guided echocardiography tool developed by front line clinicians and educate the public about the potential of AI and facilitate discussions on the ethical and privacy implications of utilizing health data for AI development in healthcare. As part of our event we will feature 3 short presentations, a panel discussion and breakout sessions to help engage the public in key questions around health care AI development.

The breakout groups will be guided in exploring different aspects of AI implementation in health care:
1. Use of health data for AI model development
2. Engaging communities in health innovation/implementation science
3. AI implementation in rural and remote health care

The question I like to ask health care employees is ‘Who is this for?’ and ‘Do we have the right people at the table?’ As a health care employee, I see how easy it is to fall into doing for, rather than doing with patients. The voices of the patient, family and caregiver are essential to ensure the patient is central to the direction and focus of the work being done.
