Island Health is creating Health Capacity and Flow education modules for all Island Health staff. We are seeking patient partner(s) who will be willing to share their healthcare journey on camera. This video will be incorporated in the learning module for Island Health Staff as a component of Patient’s voice.
Ideally, we are seeking a senior patient partner as many studies outline that this age group is impacted exponentially due to longer length of stay in hospital.
We anticipate two days of filming . We may not need the partner(s) for both days. Filming will occur at Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria in beginning of April, tentatively.
The Community Capacity Team and Acute Flow teams, with partnership with CLKS (Clinical Learning and Knowledge Services) are involved in creating Health Capacity and Flow education modules for all Island Health staff.
Health Capacity and Flow education module learning outcomes are:
Consider patients’ experience and journey
Describe and define patient flow
Describe and define capacity
Create opportunities for efficiencies in patient flow
Describe interrelationship between capacity and flow
Describe how your role impacts patient flow
Identify barriers to effect patient flow in your role
Recognize how care areas are interconnected
Describe patient and health systems results of poor patient flow
Describe how any delay in one piece impacts the entire system
Identify how to escalate patient flow concern
Prepare to receive communication
Prepare to adapt my work based on a day-to-day communications and escalations
Identify current information on capacity and flow
Feel empowered to make escalations yourself

This opportunity is at the level of Consult on the IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation.Eligibility
- Willing & comfortable to share health care experiences in a group setting
- Comfort with public speaking
- An interest in improving health care services
- The time to participate in the engagement opportunity
Patient Partners ARE NOT required to be PVN members to participate in this engagement opportunity.
