The Central Okanagan Clinical Ethics Committee (COCEC) serves the Kelowna and surrounding area (from Lake Country to Peachland). Committee team members include a broad make-up of physicians, frontline health care workers, mental health and substance use staff, representatives from risk and legal, operational leaders and public members.

The COCEC typically meets monthly to review consults brought forward by health care teams. Depending on the urgency and frequency of consults, the committee could meet more frequently than monthly. If a consult is not required at the time of the monthly meeting, other committee development is facilitated (eg. education, general ethics discussion).

The patient partner voice is a valued and respected member of the committee and will collaborate with the committee for discussions and decisions made.

Previous ethics experience is an asset but not required.
Access to technology and the internet is required as the meetings are held virtually.
