Open to Provincial Region, Patient partners across the province

Last updated

Have you ever wanted to be able to email or text your care provider? Have you ever wished that your provider could text you rather than call you? We are looking for patient partners to review the list of requirements developed by Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) clinical leaders that describe how they want to use clinical digital messaging (CDM) with their patients.

Open to: Patient partners across the province

Lead Organization or Department

Office of Virtual Health, PHSA

Aim

Our goal is to find vendors who can provide solutions for clinical digital messaging (CDM) that meet the clinical requirements and patient requirements. We will then test the solutions with select programs, evaluate and potentially scale across PHSA. It is important to engage patients at this stage because we have not contacted vendors yet. We need to ensure the patient voice is included in our list of requirements. The patient partner's role is to review our list of requirements and provide feedback and any additional requirements that we might have missed.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of consult on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will listen to and acknowledge your ideas and concerns, and provide feedback on how your input affected the decision.

Eligibility

If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and volunteer agreement, are unsure if your experience is a good fit or feel another format of engagement would work better with your availability, please contact the engagement leader directly.

Logistics

  • Vacancies: 5
  • Patient partner will be asked to review one document and provide feedback by the end of May

Reimbursement

No expenses anticipated

Background

PHSA's Office of Virtual Health was formed to work with PHSA Clinical Programs to deliver virtual health options as part of their delivery of care models. Clinical Digital Messaging is a priority area within PHSA to enable patients and providers to expand their methods of communication.

The bottom line is because we’re caring for patients. People who know best are those who are receiving the care so it makes logical sense that we would consult with them about their experiences. By connecting with PVN we have been able to educate our teams about the value of patient partners and how important their perspective is in our services.
