In the fall, Accreditation Canada will be conducting an on-site survey of Interior Health to assess our services against national standards. This focus group provides the opportunity for an Accreditation Canada surveyor to gain patient and family perspective about how Interior Health works with patients and families to plan, improve and provide care.

Aim

The aim of this initiative is to provide the opportunity for an Accreditation Canada surveyor to gain your perspective about how Interior Health works with clients and families to plan, improve and provide care. Patient partners will help surveyors rate standards related to person-centred care.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of consult on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will listen to and acknowledge your ideas and concerns, and provide feedback on how your input affected the decision.

Eligibility

Indigenous patient partners with experience accessing care through Interior Health as a patient or family member.

Logistics

  • Details: The onsite visit by Accreditation Canada will occur October 30 from 10:30am-12:00pm.  There will be options to attend in-person at the Interior Health corporate office in Kelowna or via teleconference (webinar may also be added – to be determined).

Reimbursement

This request involves volunteering time to participate in the focus group. Expenses incurred by PVN members to travel locally to attend will be considered for reimbursement.

Background

This opportunity is occurring as part of the four-year Accreditation cycle. The focus group will consist of 10 patient partners and will be conducted by a surveyor from Accreditation Canada. Interior Health staff will NOT be in attendance. There are no anticipated risks associated with participation in the focus group. Representation by a broad range of experience of services within Interior Health as well as representation from an array of geographic areas in the interior region is preferable.
