Opportunity Purpose
We are seeking a Patient Family Partner to help inform our research project from their unique perspective. As Speech Language Pathologists and Registered Dietitians, we know conversations around Eating and Drinking at Risk (EDAR) are of critical importance. Our research intends to explore current practices of EDAR conversations at Providence Health Care. The perspective of a Patient Family Partner would be valuable in informing future care.

What’s Involved
We hope to hear from first-hand experience conversations a Patient Family Partner has been involved with a conversation around EDAR. We intend to have a 1-hour virtual conversation with a Patient and Family Partner to hear their experiences with EDAR, and any further recommendations they have about how to best facilitate these conversations in the future.

Where those of us in the room may have debated policy or wording, patient voices made sure patients were top of mind. And as a result, significant improvements were made to simplify something that was otherwise complex. Patient voices at the table bring us back to reality in terms of what we are trying to achieve.
