  • This event has passed.

September 5, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

When a health care provider starts a conversation by asking what really matters to the person they are caring for, it helps them to build trust, develop empathy and understand their patients. Ultimately, it improves the quality of care they provide.

Come share “What Matters to You?” at our booth at Dawson Creek District Hospital!

About “What Matters to You?”

When a health care provider starts a conversation by asking what really matters to the person they are caring for, it helps them to build trust, develop empathy and understand their patients. Ultimately, it improves the quality of care they provide.

In partnership with health care organizations across the province, we are encouraging providers to have “What matters to you?” conversations each and every day with the people they support or care for. Because patients are the true experts on their own needs and experiences, asking, listening and responding to what matters to patients is a key feature of person- and family-centred care.

The question I like to ask health care employees is ‘Who is this for?’ and ‘Do we have the right people at the table?’ As a health care employee, I see how easy it is to fall into doing for, rather than doing with patients. The voices of the patient, family and caregiver are essential to ensure the patient is central to the direction and focus of the work being done.
