Community-Based Research Program to Support Women and Families in Pregnancies After Stillbirth (Vancouver)

  • This event has passed.

June 24, 2017

What do women and families identify as being important aspects of care in pregnancies after having a baby who was stillborn?

Still Life Canada is a non-profit organization offering peer support for families dealing with stillbirth and neonatal death. They are conducting a community-based participatory research study called the Hummingbird Project to learn about how to improve care for women and their families during pregnancy after stillbirth.

They are looking to connect with other bereaved mothers in the community who have had a subsequent pregnancy after stillbirth, but are not currently pregnant. Come participate in this research and share your story to help improve care and create change.

You will be asked to attend a two-hour focus group discussion with up to 10 participants. Childcare reimbursements will be offered, along with a small monetary gift.

A session will also be held in Surrey on Monday, June 26.

The bottom line is because we’re caring for patients. People who know best are those who are receiving the care so it makes logical sense that we would consult with them about their experiences. By connecting with PVN we have been able to educate our teams about the value of patient partners and how important their perspective is in our services.
