Brown Bag Lunch – Barriers to Engagement in Patient-Oriented Research

  • This event has passed.

February 24, 2022 @ 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm

Healthcare organizations across the globe are challenged to develop and implement services that better meet the needs of patients and communities. Although there has been a growing transition towards more collaborative modes of research, such as integrated knowledge translation (IKT) and community-based participatory research (CBPR), some gaps in knowledge exist.
For example, little is known about how to best engage immigrant and refugee populations in patient-oriented research.

During this presentation, we will share the preliminary findings from a methods-focused qualitative research study that aimed to advance understanding of how to engage diverse communities who face multiple barriers to participating in research in BC. Here, we will draw upon the insights from research teams, including patient partners, and will identify promising practices.
