International Overdose Awareness Day: Coming Together (Fort St. James)

  • This event has passed.

August 31, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

Nurses from the Nak’azdli Health Center have partnered with Nak’azdli Wellness, Northern Health Public Health Nursing, Community Paramedics, The Key, Mental Health & Addiction Services along with community members to conduct a community event that will focus on the cause: to increase awareness of overdose and to acknowledge the grief for those who have been affected by overdose in some way.

With the provincial overdose emergency, we feel this is a critical time to educate community. We hope to make further partnerships with those who are at higher risk of overdose or who know those who may be at high risk of overdose, e.g. those living in our downtown core, family/friends/community members.

For more information on this International Overdose Awareness Day event, contact Stephanie Sutton at 250.570.1073 or healthnurse1@nakazdli.ca.

Where those of us in the room may have debated policy or wording, patient voices made sure patients were top of mind. And as a result, significant improvements were made to simplify something that was otherwise complex. Patient voices at the table bring us back to reality in terms of what we are trying to achieve.
