Opportunity Purpose
We are looking to invite about 12 diverse resident, family caregiver and staff partners to participate as members of a Partners Group in long-term care and assisted living at Fraser Health. The purpose of this group will be to support current partnerships in timely COVID-19 related projects as well as maintain and inform the establishment of an ongoing Partners Group in long-term care and assisted living.

What’s Involved
Advisory members will be asked to engage in activities such as sharing their perspectives, informing research questions, identifying priorities, approving activities, reviewing documents, developing protocols, providing feedback and brainstorming ideas. Specific role expectations, scheduling details and the time commitment required from members will be discussed and agreed upon in collaboration with the researchers once the group is established.

The question I like to ask health care employees is ‘Who is this for?’ and ‘Do we have the right people at the table?’ As a health care employee, I see how easy it is to fall into doing for, rather than doing with patients. The voices of the patient, family and caregiver are essential to ensure the patient is central to the direction and focus of the work being done.
