Since October 2020, The Patient and Family Experience Council (PFEC) has served to advise the BCMHSUS Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on policies, practices, planning and delivery of patient- and family-centered care across the organization.

The PFEC is encouraging Indigenous patients and families with lived or living experience to join! Through these newly established partnerships, the PFEC seeks to ensure that BCMHSUS policies, programs, and services are culturally safe, guided by Indigenous perspectives and ways of knowing.

• Date and Time: 3rd Wednesday of every month
• Location: Zoom
• Commitment: 2-hour meetings, once per month, for a minimum of 6 months.

The bottom line is because we’re caring for patients. People who know best are those who are receiving the care so it makes logical sense that we would consult with them about their experiences. By connecting with PVN we have been able to educate our teams about the value of patient partners and how important their perspective is in our services.
