The PVN Learning Series is created for Patient Voices Network members. The PVN Learning Series is created for Patient Voices Network members and shaped by members’ input from recent focus groups and surveys. The goal of the sessions is to support the growth of PVN patient partners by reducing barriers, strengthening capabilities and creating more opportunities to connect, learn and contribute to meaningful change in BC’s health care system with increased skills and confidence.

Hear from Claire, a longtime patient partner and advocate, in a discussion about ways to increase communication and collaboration between patients, families, caregivers and the health care system to improve the patient experience, increase access to care and embed an understanding of what matters most to people across health care.

The question I like to ask health care employees is ‘Who is this for?’ and ‘Do we have the right people at the table?’ As a health care employee, I see how easy it is to fall into doing for, rather than doing with patients. The voices of the patient, family and caregiver are essential to ensure the patient is central to the direction and focus of the work being done.
