Our team is looking for parents/caregivers of a child who had previously undergone a medical procedure (e.g. surgery) at BC Children’s Hospital to join an Advisory Committee. We aim to develop an easy-to-use tool (e.g. smartphone app, webpage) to identify children who are at high risk of pain after their surgery. We need your guidance and feedback on our research processes, which include data collection, tool building and tool evaluation.

What’s Involved:
• Receive emails that provide study updates and schedule future meetings (1-2 hrs each) every 2-3 months, which will be held remotely using videoconferencing tools
• Due to your lived experience, you will provide feedback on our research activities (e.g. data collection, results) and help ensure that patient and family needs are well represented
• If interested, you may have the opportunity to be involved in focus groups and science communication

Age: 18 Years – 100 Years Old

Patient and family partners should not be a check box on research proposals! They need to be involved right from the start. I know patient and family partners are doing their part by providing their knowledge to researchers from their lived experience.  It’s a win-win for us to work together through PVN to make sure our input drives improvements.
