Opportunity Purpose
Every month, there are approximately 3,600 births across British Columbia. There is currently no streamlined mechanism for patient education and monitoring during the postpartum period. Through interviews and focus groups, we plan to work with mothers and health professionals to co-develop a patient-centred mobile application to facilitate education and self-monitoring.

What’s Involved
We are looking for a patient partner who underwent Cesarean delivery within the past year to guide us throughout the research study to ensure that the project would be relevant to patients. We are looking for input particularly in terms of study design, App content, engagement and recruitment strategies, and knowledge dissemination.

Where those of us in the room may have debated policy or wording, patient voices made sure patients were top of mind. And as a result, significant improvements were made to simplify something that was otherwise complex. Patient voices at the table bring us back to reality in terms of what we are trying to achieve.
