We are looking for a patient co-facilitator for the Collaborative Decision-Making workshop taking place in person on Friday, October 24th, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in person in Prince George. Take part & share your knowledge & lived experience with the next cohort of health professional students.

Workshop Learning Objectives for Students:
1. Analyze the opportunities and barriers to involving patients and families as part of healthcare teams, as shared in real-life stories
2. Apply collaborative decision-making strategies in small group discussions
3. Describe how collaborative decision-making supports BC’s team-based primary care strategy and improves care coordination

What’s Involved for Facilitators:
1.Orientation: New facilitators are asked to attend an online orientation on Wednesday, September 3rd at 6:30 pm. Followed by an optional drop-in mentorship and storytelling session from 7:00–8:00 pm
2.Your Story: Be prepared to share your health story
3.Optional Q&A Drop-In: Wednesday, October 8th, from 6:30–7:30 pm
4.Co-Facilitator Meeting prior to October 15th to prepare the session together.

We’re pleased to offer a $275 honorarium to recognize your time. Patient partners must reside in the Prince George area for this opportunity.

This opportunity is at the level of Collaborate on the IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation.

Eligibility

  • Willing & comfortable to share health care experiences in a group setting
  • Comfort with public speaking
  • Specific health care experiences [details below]
  • Have access to technology and the internet to participate in the engagement opportunity
  • Comfortable using technology to attend online/virtual meetings
  • An interest in improving health care services
  • knowledge of Collaborative decision making
Patient Partners ARE NOT required to be PVN members to participate in this engagement opportunity.
