The Sonography program at the College of New Caledonia is seeking a patient partner willing to speak to a small class of healthcare professionals in training. Aim is to provide students with insight into the patient experience and perspective. This will help students see patients as individuals with unique needs and inform them on how to communicate and care for patients. Examples of topics include:
– communication – patient could share an experience of how poor communication effected them and how the healthcare provider could have improved
-empathy – how was this shown or not shown
-cultural considerations – story of poor treatment in the healthcare system and how best can we can care for diverse people
-considerations for patients who have disabilities – story of healthcare experience as a blind/deaf/paraplegic person etc. and how best to serve these individuals.

My class is tuesdays and thursdays from 13:00 – 14:30. Preferably the patient partner could come on either Nov 18 or 20th 2025 but there is some flexibility with the dates.
