The 2019/20 Annual Service Plan Report describes how Interior Health performed regarding the 2019/20-21/22 Interior Health Service Plan targets that were set by the Ministry of Health in the previous year. IH is hoping patient partners will provide feedback.

Aim

The Annual Service Plan Report outlines to the public how Interior Health performed against the 2019/20-21/22 Service Plan targets. We are looking for patient partners to review critical sections of the draft report to ensure that they are written in a way that is understandable and meaningful to the general public.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of consult on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will listen to and acknowledge your ideas and concerns, and provide feedback on how your input affected the decision.

Eligibility

• Experience reviewing confidential government documents (e.g. reports, policies, etc.) an asset • Some understanding of current provincial health care strategic direction/goals • Familiar with plain language writing style • Access to phone and computer and familiarity with email correspondence and Microsoft Word software (especially using the track-changes function) If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and volunteer agreement, are unsure if your experience is a good fit or feel another format of engagement would work better with your availability, please contact the engagement leader directly.

Logistics

Vacancies: 2-3 The patient partner will receive an electronic copy of the approx. 30-page, confidential draft of the Interior Health Annual Service Plan Report. About 2-3 hours is the length expected to review specified sections and provide feedback in writing. This one-time document review can be done from a location that is convenient for the patient partner would need to be completed between August 28-September 4th, 2020. This is a one-time event but future opportunities of the same nature may arise. Feedback within the draft plan (Word document) can be submitted via email or discussed by phone.

Reimbursement

No expenses are anticipated for this engagement as it is over the telephone and email.

Background

Interior Health would like to ensure that the Annual Service Plan Report is reader-friendly to its public audience. Getting feedback from patient partners will enhance the quality of the plan. Examples of previous reports can be found here: https://www.interiorhealth.ca/AboutUs/Accountability/Pages/Service-Plan.aspx The report is intended to reflect the full health care system and those living across the Interior Health region. It will also be reviewed by internal staff and medical staff, as well as senior leaders. All feedback will be considered but not all suggested edits may be possible to include in the final version. Until the report is approved by the Ministry of Health it is considered to be extremely confidential and should not be shared further.
