The Interior Health Accessibility Committee was established in Oct. 2023. The purpose of the Accessibility Committee is to make recommendations and take action to complete, implement, and assess accessibility at Interior Health for staff and members of the public, with a priority on complying with the Accessible BC Regulation for organizations.
Accessibility is defined as the practice of making information, activities and/or environments sensible, meaningful, and usable for as many people as possible. A common example of accessibility that we have all likely encountered, is in the context of architectural design. Barriers to accessibility can include technology, education, physical environment, mobility, language and communication and psychological supports and solutions.
We are seeking two (2) public partners to attend monthly Accessibility Committee meetings virtually for 90 minutes, using Microsoft Teams. The meetings are an opportunity to review progress made towards actions found in the IH Accessibility Plan and a chance for public partners to provide feedback on their accessibility experience at IH.
