We are seeking a patient or family partner to join the PHC Adult Guardianship Steering Committee.
The newly formed Adult Guardianship Steering Committee provides leadership, oversight, and system-level accountability for the implementation of the Adult Guardianship Act (AGA) within PHC.
The AGA was enacted in 2000 to provide tools to protect adults experiencing abuse, neglect, or self-neglect. PHC has been a Designated Agency (DA) under the Act since 2007 and is responsible for receiving, investigating, and responding to reports, including the use of emergency measures under Section 59 when immediate action is required.
As a member of the steering committee, you will:
• Attend and actively contribute to meetings and decision making from a patient or family perspective.
• Review and interpret data related to AGA interventions.
• Support alignment with organizational and provincial priorities.
• Identify and escalate risks, ethical issues, or emerging practice needs.
• Endorse communications and recommendations submitted to Senior Leadership.
Time Commitment
• 1-hour monthly steering committee meetings (virtual) – 4th Thursday of every month, 2:00-3:00 pm
• Approximately 1 hour per month of additional time to review meeting materials
• 2-year term limit
Honoraria/Expenses
• Recognition of patient partner time will be provided with an honorarium
