The BC Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Perioperative Care Alignment and Digital Screening (PCADS) initiative and Provincial Health Authorities, aim to enhance pre- surgical screening for non-emergency adult surgeries by designing a patient-centered process to optimize surgical outcomes. Patient partners will:
• Participate in a  45-60 minute one-on-one interview to share experiences with pre-surgical preparation.
• Provide input on digital screening questions to help patients to prepare for surgery.

Where those of us in the room may have debated policy or wording, patient voices made sure patients were top of mind. And as a result, significant improvements were made to simplify something that was otherwise complex. Patient voices at the table bring us back to reality in terms of what we are trying to achieve.
