Telling your story with impact allows health care providers to imagine the care they provide from the perspective of the patient. It gives them insight that otherwise isn’t available to them and helps to improve care that best matches the needs of patients. The surgical team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital is excited about the possibilities of improving care through hearing your story to help inspire teams to improve the patient experience.

Background

The surgical/perioperative leadership team members have heard patient partner speakers at the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council annual conferences and the Fraser Health Patient Experience Summit. The patient partner speakers were excellent in sharing their personal experiences, and the sharing brought a rich storytelling experience that we think is invaluable to offer to our front line staff. The education day is focusing on the surgical experience, so there will be other speakers, surgeons, anaesthetists, patient education expert, etc. This education day relates to hospital surgical care.
