Aim
A working group will be formed consisting of several members of the Shapedown BC team. Patient partners will be invited to attend some or all of these working group meetings to provide the patient perspective, with a particular focus on online health education/experience for families and youth. This will also include providing feedback on learning outcomes, learning objectives and learning activities for the online Shapedown program.

Level of Engagement
This opportunity is at the level of consult on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will listen to and acknowledge your ideas and concerns, and provide feedback on how your input affected the decision.

Eligibility
Open to patient partners across the province who:
• Are comfortable in sharing their story with online education/online programs
• Are interested in virtual health care
• Are interested in instructional design and learning technology
• Participation in a Shapedown BC Program is an asset, but not required

As relationship building and connection is important to the Office of Virtual Health please note that informal meet & greets may form part of the selection process.

If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and Patient Partner Commitments, are unsure if your experience is a good fit or feel another format of engagement would work better with your availability, please contact Cassy Mitchell.

Logistics
• Number of vacancies: 3
• Date and Time: Online meetings during office hours Monday-Friday. Meeting frequency TBD
• Location: Online participation via Zoom
• Commitment: Seven months to 1 year

Reimbursement
No out of pocket expenses are anticipated for this engagement opportunity. However, if you meet the eligibility criteria, but have concerns about your ability to participate, please contact Cassy Mitchell cmitchell@bcpsqc.ca to see if support options are available. We are always seeking to better understand and reduce barriers to participation.

Background
Shapedown BC is a provincial program that helps children, teens, and their families build healthy lifestyles. One of the important services is their 10-week long group program (currently offered both in-person and online) that involves weekly educational and interactive sessions. The topics include: nutrition, parental limit setting, screen time, sleep, physical activity, body image, self-esteem, family meals, and communication.

Local sessions are run by a team, including a registered dietitian, psychologist, social worker, and an exercise specialist. The sessions are traditionally delivered in-person but they have been adapted to run online since the pandemic.

Shapedown BC is partnering with the Office of Virtual Health (Provincial Health Services Authority) to re-design their online program for virtual delivery best practice.
