Open to Fraser – Vancouver Coastal, Patient partners in Fraser Health communities
Integrating the patient’s voice, alongside physicians, in health care quality improvement work takes a lot of behind the scenes work to engage physicians and build capacity in the areas of quality improvement, leadership, project and change management. The Physician Quality Improvement Steering Committee provides a unique platform for patients to provide feedback to the development and implementation of quality improvement training for physicians across Fraser Health.

AimThe intention of the initiative is to build understanding, knowledge and access to quality improvement resources within the Fraser Health physician group. Involving patients in the strategic decision making that occurs at the quarterly Steering Committee is meaningful, appropriate and VIA (valid, important and applicable) to those that access services and receive treatment/support within the FH Health System.
Level of EngagementThis opportunity is at the level of collaborate on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will work together with you to formulate solutions and incorporate your advice and recommendations into the decisions to the maximum extent possible.
Eligibility• Requirement: ability to complete IHI Open School online courses QI 101-105 and 201. Information will be provided by key contact. If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and volunteer agreement, are unsure if your experience is a good fit or feel another format of engagement would work better with your availability, please contact the engagement leader directly.

- Meeting times, location, frequency: In person meetings on September 12 and November 14, from 4-6PM. 2020 schedule to be determined. Meetings scheduled approximately every three months.

BackgroundPhysician Quality Improvement (PQI), a partnership between FH and Doctors of BC/Specialist Services Committee, is an initiative to engage physicians and build capacity in the areas of quality improvement, leadership, project and change management. The intention of the initiative is to build understanding, knowledge and access to quality improvement resources within the FH physician group.
