Background

Northern Health, Terrace Community Services has had many challenges with scheduling for clients receiving psychiatry services. A new electronic medical record system is being implemented so there is an opportunity to review processes. Psychiatrists, case managers and administration will be involved with this engagement. Confidentiality with patient partners will be discussed and forms will be explained. Northern Health is asking patients to offer insight into how Northern Health's systems impact their overall level of well being and ongoing follow up. This evaluation is part of a multifaceted review, and hearing how services are received by patient partners is crucial to making adjustments to processes that will impact their service delivery. Patient partners will be asked to provide their perspective on booking new appointments with a psychiatrist as well as follow up appointments. There will be Northern Health Staff on hand for emotional support if required.

It’s really hard to make changes in health care. When a PVN patient partner says, ‘This is important to us’ it keeps us grounded on why a change is needed and keeps us motivated to keep going on projects.
