Northern Health wants to educate the public about primary and community care! We are looking for patient partners to advise on what information they want to hear about primary care.

Aim

Northern Health wants to educate the public about Primary and Community Care. We would like feedback from patient partners on the information we want to share to ensure it is relevant and that the messaging makes sense and it answers the questions that the public have about the topic. The patient partner will be asked to participate in some working group calls to provide feedback and review the information and key messages that we are wanting to distribute.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of involve on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will involve patients in planning and design phases to ensure ideas or concerns are considered and reflected in alternatives and recommendations.

Eligibility

  • Comfortable sharing their opinion with a group of people
  • Strong communication skills
If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and volunteer agreement, are unsure if your experience is a good fit or feel another format of engagement would work better with your availability, please contact Cathy Almost directly.

Logistics

Vacancies: four Commitment: We will meet approximately every two weeks for one hour, for up to six months Format: working group/committee Location: teleconference

Reimbursement

There are no expenses anticipated for this project.

Background

Northern Health has integrated primary care services with community care services and wants to educate the public on primary care. This project takes into consideration that there will be community nuances and messages may have to be tailored for different communities in Northern Health. The working group involves members of the Divisions of Family Practice, family doctors and other health care professionals.
