We are working on a project to improve access to sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing. Currently, individuals can visit a lab to test for syphilis and HIV without needing a doctor’s referral. Our goal is to expand this service to include testing for chlamydia and gonorrhea. This will allow people to get tested earlier and avoid unnecessary visits to clinics or emergency rooms.

To ensure the program is effective and user-friendly, we need your help as a patient partner. In this role, you would review patient materials, such as testing instructions and information sheets, and provide feedback on the testing process. Your insights will help us simplify and enhance the experience for everyone.

This opportunity involves participating in a few meetings (either in person or online) and reviewing materials, requiring approximately 5–10 hours over a couple of months. Your valuable input will help make this program accessible and beneficial for people across our communities.

This opportunity is at the level of Consult on the IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation.

The bottom line is because we’re caring for patients. People who know best are those who are receiving the care so it makes logical sense that we would consult with them about their experiences. By connecting with PVN we have been able to educate our teams about the value of patient partners and how important their perspective is in our services.
