The BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) regulates all nurses (licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses and nurse practitioners) and all registered midwives in B.C.

We invite you to review this draft ethics standard on therapeutic relationships and professional boundaries expectations for nurses and midwives when they are caring for patients.

Nurses and midwives are expected to set appropriate professional boundaries with their patients. Boundaries separate professional behaviour from unprofessional behaviour.

Your feedback will help inform potential updates to BCCNM’s Therapeutic Relationships and Professional Boundaries ethics standards for nurses and midwives.

This survey is anonymous, will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Email policysurvey@bccnm.ca if you have questions about this survey. In the subject line, please indicate the survey name. Please note that if you email us, your feedback may no longer be anonymous.

I was thrilled to discover the Patient Voices Network, where the array of places to be the voice of a patient is vast and incredibly interesting. Besides my ongoing “gig” with the BC Emergency Medicine Network, I have enjoyed being involved in several one-off initiatives. I love working with professionals who genuinely value the perspectives of their patient partners.
