Northern Health is establishing an Accessibility Committee to help identify and remove barriers to care, services, and environments across the region. We are inviting patient partners from the Patient Voices Network to join this committee to ensure that lived experiences and diverse perspectives inform our work from the outset.

The committee will meet regularly to explore accessibility challenges and co-develop solutions that improve equity and inclusion for all. Patient partners will contribute by sharing their experiences, offering feedback, and helping guide the direction of accessibility initiatives.

Meetings will be held virtually, with the next session tentatively scheduled for mid to late August. We welcome patient partners from across Northern BC and will provide support to ensure participation is meaningful and accessible.

Support for Participation:
Northern Health is committed to ensuring this engagement is accessible and inclusive. We will work with patient partners to provide necessary accommodations, including technology support, accessibility tools, and flexible participation options.

Honorarium:
Patient partners will receive an honorarium in recognition of their time and contributions.

Time Commitment:
Committee meetings will be held virtually and are expected to occur monthly. Each session will last approximately 2 hours, with occasional opportunities for additional input between meetings.

Who Should Apply:
We welcome expressions of interest from individuals with lived experience of disability, accessibility challenges, or navigating health services in Northern BC. Diverse voices are essential to shaping meaningful change.

Selection Process:
Interested patient partners will be contacted for a brief conversation to explore fit and interest. We aim to create a balanced and representative committee.

It’s really hard to make changes in health care. When a PVN patient partner says, ‘This is important to us’ it keeps us grounded on why a change is needed and keeps us motivated to keep going on projects.
