• To enhance physician capacity in quality improvement by providing training and hands-on experience through learning action projects, ultimately promoting a culture of learning, openness, and dedication to improving the health care system.
• Patient partners will offer their unique perspective and insight and help guide the training.
• Number of patients: 2
• Date/Time: Every 2 months. Meetings are held on Mondays, 4:30 to 6pm.
• Commitment: Meetings are approximately 1.5 hours long and may have some pre-reading.

Background
The PQI initiative has worked collaboratively with physician representatives and six of BC’s health authorities to custom design a program that meets needs of the local region. PQI aspires to address gaps in quality structures relating to physician participation in quality improvement (QI) activities and embeds dedicated staff into the PQI teams regionally.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of Involve on the IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation.

Eligibility

  • Willing & comfortable to share health care experiences in a group setting
  • Comfort with public speaking
  • Have access to technology and the internet to participate in the engagement opportunity
  • Comfortable using technology to attend online/virtual meetings
  • An interest in improving health care services
Patient Partners ARE NOT required to be PVN members to participate in this engagement opportunity.
