The planning committee is responsible for providing advice and assistance to the CCHL Staff in developing the Canada West Health Leaders Conference (CWHLC). It develops and recommends the conference theme, the program format, the plenary/keynote speakers, concurrent sessions, the marketing plan, and the sponsorship approach. Guidance is also sought when selecting the conference location.
CCHL aims to include the patients’ voice to the planning committee to:
• Advise on ways to include the patient/family perspective in the design and development of the conference program.
• The patient partner will be required to attend monthly planning meetings held via Zoom starting in January 2025 and ending in November 2025. Meetings are held on Wednesday from 3:00 – 4:00 ET (January 22, February 19, March 26, April 23, May 28, July 16, August 13, September 17, October 8, 2025).
• A complimentary registration will also be provided to the conference being held on Oct 29-30, 2025, in Victoria.
• Accommodation if required will be charged to CCHL’s master account.
• Travel expenses if any will be reimbursed.
This conference is a large gathering of health system decision-makers which includes trustees, chief executive officers, directors, managers and department heads. Participants represent health regions, authorities and networks, hospitals, long-term care organizations, public health agencies, community care, mental health services and social work.
The CWHLC will focus primarily on two domains of the LEADS in a Caring Environment Capability Framework: Lead Self and Engage Others. For more information on the LEADS Framework, please visit the LEADS Canada web site at https://cchl-ccls.ca/pld-leads/the-leads-framework/.
