Volunteer Opportunity
Join us in planning our research and quality conference to highlight the best and brightest in research and quality improvement in Northern Health. We are seeking four patient partners for our person and family engagement committee.

Aim
To plan a conference that shares health and health services research, evaluation, evidence informed practice and quality improvement practices in the North. Patient Partners will provide input, and ideas at each step of the conference planning process.
Level of Engagement
This opportunity is at the level of collaborate on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will work together with you to formulate solutions and incorporate your advice and recommendations into the decisions to the maximum extent possible.
Eligibility
• Conference or event experience is an asset but not required
• Internet access and own device are required
• Experience with Zoom
• Please note:
– The placement process for this opportunity may include an informal interview between the volunteer and the health care partner.
If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and Volunteer Agreement, are unsure if your experience is a good fit or feel another format of engagement would work better with your availability, please contact Cathy Almost.
Logistics
• Number of vacancies: 2-4
• Date and Time: Monthly 1 hour meetings September to December with the possibility of extra meetings closer to the conference dates. First meeting date: September 20, 2021, 1pm.
• Attend Conference Dec 7-9, 2021.
• Location: Virtual
• Commitment: seven months to a year

Background
The Research and Quality Conference is a forum enhanced with workshops to share health and health services research, evaluation, evidence-informed practice and quality improvement initiatives in the North. This conference happens every 2 years.
The conference attracts a broad, interprofessional audience, including health care managers, clinical service providers, physicians, community and aboriginal health agency workers, people accessing health care services, researchers, evaluators, and students. Approximately 200 people attend.
This year the conference will be virtual with some in-person and virtual workshops.
