Role description
The BC Renal Kidney Care Clinic Committee is seeking patient and family members to join the Kidney Care Clinic Best Practices Guideline Update Working Group. The Working Group aims to update parts of the best practices guideline for the care teams of Kidney Care Clinics related to supporting patients in their care journey and treatment education at the Kidney Care Clinics in BC.

Members of the Working Group will include health professionals from health authorities, patient partners, as well as staff from BC Renal. Members will work together by sharing their perspectives on the update of clinical practice guidelines for non-dialysis kidney care. The patient partners will help ensure that the updated guidelines support person- and family-centered care throughout the non-dialysis care journey of those visiting Kidney Care Clinics across BC.

Level of engagement
Collaborate: BC Renal will work together with all members in decision making, developing alternatives, and solutions and include your recommendations into each decision as much as possible.

Requirements
• Person (patients or caregivers of patients) who currently attends one of BC’s Kidney Care Clinics.
• Experience working and sharing perspectives with diverse groups of people.
• A strong interest in working together with health professionals to improve the quality of the experience of patients/families attending a Kidney Care Clinic in BC.

We welcome patients/caregivers of various ages, genders, kidney disease experiences and cultural backgrounds from across the province.

Number of positions available
Up to 3

Commitment
• One-hour meeting via Zoom every 4-6 weeks during typical workday hours.
• First meeting will be held in May 2024.
• Term membership is six months (i.e., 6-8 meetings).

Compensation
Expenses for travel and accommodation, if needed for any meetings, will be reimbursed.
