Interior Health is looking to grow our active partners list by creating a pool of casual partners that we can reach out to / engage when potential projects, meetings, committees, or other engagement opportunities come up.

We are anticipating that these potential engagements will vary greatly. For example, we might email partners in our casual pool to provide feedback on a form, input on a poster, or we might ask for partners whose interests match to join a steering committee for a new long-term initiative. The engagements could vary from short- to long-term and could encompass a wide variety of topics pertaining to healthcare in Interior Health’s region.

There is no expectation of minimum engagement, nor is there a ceiling to how often a patient / public partner can engage. The levels of engagement may vary between projects and initiatives. We are hoping to build a robust list of engaged public members that will help to provide their perspectives and help to drive improvement activities across IH in a multitude of ways.

Patient / public partners will be part of a robust orientation process ensuring that they are comfortable and familiar with their role and responsibilities as an IH Patient / Public partner.

Potential active casual partners are required to be comfortable receiving updates and requests via email, familiar with technology to some degree, and flexible in their expectations. As with any casual position, sometimes there aren’t many opportunities and sometimes there will be many to choose from!

If you would like to be removed from the casual pool that can happen easily and at any time with no effect on future possibilities for engagement.

Recently, a PVN Patient Advisor asked healthcare partners, “What are we learning from patients, families, and others thus far during this pandemic?”. This is an excellent question and one to ask ourselves daily.
