Local hospital services value the experience and views of patient partners as they work towards becoming more patient and family-centred. Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) is seeking two patient partners to join their Health Services Operations Management Committee. As part of the committee, patient partners will be empowered to be equal partners in decisions concerning programs and services at RCH.

Aim

Patients partners will contribute their lived experience and ideas for hospital services and programs, and serve as equal decision makers.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of collaborate on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will work together with you to formulate solutions and incorporate your advice and recommendations into the decisions to the maximum extent possible.

Eligibility

This invitation is being extended to volunteers in communities surrounding Royal Columbian Hospital who:
  • Can speak to a lived experience with RCH programs and services, either as a patient or family member
  • Are excited to share their story and perspective with health care providers and leaders
If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and Volunteer Agreement, or are unsure if your experience is a good fit, please contact Jami Brown directly. **Please note:  There will be a interview with the team prior to decision

Logistics

  • Vacancies: 2
  • Date/Time: Monthly meetings; 3rd Monday of the month from 5pm-6pm with some pre-reading, 2-3 hours a month
  • Location: Royal Columbian Hospital
  • Commitment: One year term (with an option for renewal up to two years)

Reimbursement

Preapproved expenses related to travel to in person meetings will be reimbursed according to the Fraser Health Travel policy (including mileage each way, parking and public transit).

Background

The Royal Columbian Hospital Health Services Operations Management Committee meets as a group to review quality and safety; financial; staff and physician engagement and overall operations for the community/site. Please refer to the Terms of Reference for more information.
