Would you like to help revamp signage in the Fort St. John Emergency Department(ED) waiting room? If yes, this is the opportunity for you as leadership of the ED would like a patient partner perspective to make the signage and messaging user friendly and easy to understand.

Aim

The aim of this committee is to design better signage and communications for the Fort. St John ED. The role of the patient partner is to work alongside committee members to review the revamp process and determine clearer language and messaging of specific instructions and of the ED’s processes.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of collaborate on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will work together with you to formulate solutions and incorporate your advice and recommendations into the decisions to the maximum extent possible.

Eligibility

Open to patient partners from Fort St. John who:
  • Have accessed the ED either as a patient or family member/care giver
  • Have experience in navigating the health care system
  • Are comfortable working in a group setting with the Critical Care Lead, Unit Clerk, staff member, Physician
If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and volunteer agreement, are unsure if your experience is a good fit or feel another format of engagement would work better with your availability, please contact Cassy Mitchell directly.

Reimbursement

Pre approved travel and out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed as per Northern Health Authority reimbursement policy

Background

To address posts on social media about ineffective signange in the Fort St. John ED, the leadership team would like to review processes for checking into the ED and revamp signange/instructions throughout the department. This is to ensure that the patient experience is as smooth as possible and any signange/messaging is clear and easy to understand.
