If you would like to ensure that health science students are prepared to deliver high quality person- and family-centred care across the health care spectrum, this could be the opportunity for you!
The Patient Partner Advisory Committee, composed of Patient Partners, SoHS community members, and other key partners, who collaborate with programs at multiple levels to enhance the integration of patient perspectives in curriculum development & strategic planning across health science programs.
The committee’s goals are to:
• Expand awareness & visibility of Patient Partners throughout the SoHS
• Strengthen program-specific collaborations with Patient Partners
• Develop a long-term strategy for sustainable Patient Partner engagement
• Integrate diverse perspectives & promote Equity Diversity and Inclusion – focused curriculum enhancements
• Build networks & foster meaningful community engagement
This opportunity is at the level of collaborate (at a local community or program level) on the spectrum of engagement (Guide to Authentic Patient Engagement – page 20). The promise to you is that the health care partner will look to you for advice in decision making, developing alternatives, and solutions and include your recommendations into the decision as much as possible.
As connection and relationship building is important to BCIT, we would like to meet with short-listed patient partners as part of the selection process.
• Number of vacancies: 5-7
• Meeting Frequency: 3-6 meetings per year. Reviewing documents outside of meeting times may also be required
• Location: Online participation via Microsoft Teams meetings

Every two years, the committee will review the terms of reference, the roster of members, and discuss who will be continuing their current term, starting a second term, leaving, or joining.

Recognition for time will be provided according to BCIT’s organizational policies. If you meet the eligibility criteria, but have concerns about your ability to participate, please contact PVN at pvn@healthqualitybc.ca to see if support options are available. We are always seeking to better understand and reduce barriers to participation
