The BC Renal Kidney Care Committee works to coordinate and improve the delivery of non-dilaysis chronic kidney disease (CKD) care in BC. It provides a forum for collaboration across health authorities and advises on provincial priorities, clinical standards, guidelines, tools, resources and quality indicators for non-dialysis CKD care.

Committee membership includes patient partners, clinical, and administrative leaders from provincial and regional health authorities and BC Renal. Members work together by sharing their perspectives to enable quality non-dialysis CKD care. Patient partners of the committee work alongside with kidney health professionals to ensure best outcomes and experiences for people receiving care at a Kidney Care Clinic in BC.

Where those of us in the room may have debated policy or wording, patient voices made sure patients were top of mind. And as a result, significant improvements were made to simplify something that was otherwise complex. Patient voices at the table bring us back to reality in terms of what we are trying to achieve.
