The Kelowna General Hospital Foundation and the Central Okanagan Primary Care Network are beginning the co-design of a new Community Primary Care Teaching Clinic in Kelowna.

This project is focused not only on training future physicians, but on helping shape a stronger, more connected, and more sustainable future for primary care in our community.

We are seeking lived experience perspectives to help inform the design of the clinic from the outset — particularly around how people experience access to care, continuity, trust, communication, navigation, and belonging within the healthcare system.

Our goal is to design with community, not for community. We are especially interested in hearing from individuals and communities who have experienced barriers navigating primary care or who feel their voices are not often included in healthcare planning and decision-making.

Engagement opportunities may include conversations, workshops, advisory participation, or other collaborative activities throughout the design process.

Being involved in the Patient Voices Network has broadened my understanding of the system and helped me empathize with health care challenges and limitations. What matters to me is to walk away feeling that my experience matters, that I matter!
