The BC Quality Awards celebrate the individuals and teams who are improving care and inspiring positive change in health care across BC. We would like to invite three patient partners to join our judging panel and decide the winners and runners-up of the 17th annual awards.

The role of the patient partners will be to review and score nominations from a selection of categories. After scoring nominations, patient partners will join the full judging panel, made up of leaders in health care quality, HQBC Council Members, clinicians and key health care partners for a virtual meeting to decide the winners and runners up of the Quality Awards.

HQBC’s BC Quality Awards celebrates and recognizes teams and individuals in BC who are improving care and inspiring positive change in health care across BC. Their projects include achievements and innovations within the within the five areas of care of the BC Health Quality Matrix, as well as those focused on achievements in sustainable care and co-designing health with public and community. In addition, individual recognition is also awarded to inspiring quality leaders, patients and health care professionals across the spectrum of care.

Now in their 17th year, the Quality Awards help us recognize and raise the profile of improvements to the quality of care in BC. The winners are each awarded a $2,500 sponsorship to help support and disseminate learning from their projects.

Patient and family partners should not be a check box on research proposals! They need to be involved right from the start. I know patient and family partners are doing their part by providing their knowledge to researchers from their lived experience.  It’s a win-win for us to work together through PVN to make sure our input drives improvements.
