Island Health is seeking two Patient Partners to join our newly formed Human Experience Cross Continuum Committee (CCC) – a standing committee within our Clinical Governance structure.

Purpose and Goals of the Engagement
The Human Experience CCC provides leadership in shaping and advancing strategic actions that improve the human experience of care across all services at Island Health. This committee plays a key role in embedding people-centred care into system planning and service delivery.

The CCC will
• Provide strategic and advisory guidance on human experience priorities and initiatives
• Support other tables within Clinical Governance to address human experience needs
• Advise on alignment with Ministry programs and priorities (e.g. Patient-Centred Measurement)
• Champion human experience approaches that recognize and address historical and systemic inequities and marginalization, including Indigenous-specific racism, colonialism, and other forms of discrimination

As a Patient Partner, you will contribute your lived experience to help shape decisions and ensure care across Island Health reflects the needs, values, and preferences of patients, families, and communities.

Meeting Details
• Start Date: September 25, 2025
• Time: 2:00-4:00 PM (Pacific Time)
• Frequency: Bi-monthly (every two months)
• Location: Virtual meetings held via Microsoft Teams
• Preparation: Materials will be sent at least one week in advance. A member of the committee will also reach out prior to each meeting to provide support and answer any questions.

Commitment
• Term Length: 2 years
• Meeting Duration: 2 hour every two months, plus preparation time (~2 hours per meeting)

We welcome Patient Partners who are passionate about improving the care experience and who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We are especially interested in hearing from individuals with lived experience of being underserved in the health system.

The bottom line is because we’re caring for patients. People who know best are those who are receiving the care so it makes logical sense that we would consult with them about their experiences. By connecting with PVN we have been able to educate our teams about the value of patient partners and how important their perspective is in our services.
