Cardiac Services has been identified as the first area of focus for Island Health’s Clinical Services Planning. The scope entails a comprehensive Clinical Services Planning process for all Cardiac Services, which includes the analysis, selection, design, and planning of future services and care models tailored to the Vancouver Island population. The Cardiac Services Clinical Services Plan will serve as the first ‘use case’ and will inform broader Clinical Services Planning efforts.

As part of this work, the project team is engaging with Patient Partners to understand pain points, strengths and opportunities to improve cardiac services across Vancouver Island. Engagement will involve two key 2 hour sessions to first gather views on the current state of cardiac services across the Island through a patient journey mapping session, and then validating the future model of care developed based on a variety of perspectives and data assessing population needs. Patient Partners will have direct involvement on informing the development of the Cardiac Service Model and Cardiac Services Plan

This engagement opportunity involves two key 2-hour engagement sessions scheduled with Patient Partners, the first in the week March 10 and the second the week of April 21. There will be a final “closing the loop” session early June.

This engagement is part of ongoing work to the development of a Cardiac Services Plan as part of the broader Island Health Clinical Services Planning work. This work is time sensitive and dependent on gathering key insights from interest holders (including Patient Partners) in a timely manner.
