Island Health is looking for a patient partner to join the interview panel for the new Vice President for Knowledge, Practice and Chief Nursing Executive.

Aim

Island Health is looking to choose a suitable new candidate for the Vice President, Knowledge, Practice and Chief Nursing Executive position. Patient participation and insight during the interview process promotes a patient- and family-centred approach to leadership within Island Health. The patient partner’s role would be to participate in interviews as a panelist for the new Vice President role and provide feedback to senior leadership on who would best fit the role.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of consult on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will listen to and acknowledge your ideas and concerns, and provide feedback on how your input affected the decision.

Eligibility

• Open to patient partners from the Vancouver Island region • Experience sitting on an interview panel is an asset • Comfortable speaking and sharing thoughts with senior leadership • Experiences receiving care from nurses, and/or other experience and familiarity with nursing or allied health care would be considered an asset • Please note:
  • This opportunity is not open to patient partners who are currently employed by Island Health
  • The placement process for this opportunity may include an informal interview between the volunteer and the health care partner.
  • Applicants must have previously attended a PVN orientation session and completed the Volunteer Agreement. If you have not attended an orientation session but you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Ashley Clark directly to see if accommodations may be possible.

Number of vacancies: 1 Date/Time: Interview dates are currently scheduled for: Wednesday September 9 from 8:00am - 1:00pm Friday September 11 from 8:00am - 12:30pm ** Patient partner would need to be available for both dates Location: Zoom Commitment: One time

There are no anticipated costs associated with this opportunity.

Background

The Vice President, Knowledge, Practice and Chief Nursing Executive is responsible and accountable for providing corporate leadership and expert advice on nursing, allied health, professional practice and research. The previous Vice President has now retired from the role, which has created a vacancy that needs to be filled. Participants on the interview panel include members of the senior leadership team, Ministry of Health, and academic partners. Materials for interviews will be sent in advance to enable the patient partner to review the candidates.
