The Interior Health Environmental Sustainability clinical team works to help reduce the environmental impacts of our health care system. We work a large variety of projects on topics that span the whole range of health care services related to anything from surgery to pharmacy to long term care.

Some of the projects we work on have the potential to directly impact patients and these projects would benefit from patient input. Examples of involvement might include reviewing public-facing informational materials or participating in planning sessions for new or ongoing initiatives. We believe that patients bring a critically important perspective and voice to our quality improvement efforts.

PVN has really helped us engage with patient partners to improve health services at Northern Health.  It is more and more becoming the norm to include patients in the design, delivery and evaluation of health services.  PVN education and supports, involving patient partners, have enabled us to develop the capacity to include the patient voice to make care better and achieve better health outcomes.
