Networked Health BC is looking for people living in BC who have received healthcare in BC in a variety of settings/places, who could share their experience in a one-hour interview.

Engagement aims
– Learn how patient’s health information is being shared with them – where this works well and where there are gaps.
– Understand gaps, inconsistencies and consequences to patients and providers.
– Identify successes, highlighting what works well.
– Discover what patient’s preferences, dislikes and unmet needs are
– Hear from diverse perspectives.
– Learn how patient’s health information flows or fails to flow within the healthcare system.

Background Information
Networked Health BC- formerly Healthy Data for Healthy People – is an interdisciplinary group created by its members to promote a principle-based cooperative approach to the design and use of health data in British Columbia that will optimize the delivery of quality health programs and services.

Health Data (Information) Journey Mapping is an approach to understand and then address systemic issues in healthcare information handling, including gaps, inconsistencies and the consequences to patients and healthcare providers. It also provides an opportunity to identify successes, highlighting what works well for patients and providers as well as understanding their preferences, dislikes and unmet needs.

Method and Role
– Interviews will be held from Sept – December 2025.
– A one hour Interview will be carried out virtually via Zoom or Teams to hear of your experiences receiving health care. We would like to know where you found gaps in the flow of your health information, and where there was successful health information sharing in a variety of settings. Settings such as – doctors’ appointments, tests, labs, acute care, community care, pharmacist, optometry, dentist, physiotherapy, massage, footcare, vaccination, ambulance, 811, etc.
– An email will be sent to you after the interview containing a transcript of what you shared for your review to ensure your experience is captured correctly.
– All information collected will be de-identified and key points aggregated (all interview information put together) for your privacy.
– A report will be created to share the results from all the interviews. This report will be shared provincially, nationally and perhaps internationally to help guide improvements in health information sharing.

It’s really hard to make changes in health care. When a PVN patient partner says, ‘This is important to us’ it keeps us grounded on why a change is needed and keeps us motivated to keep going on projects.
