The overall objective would be a one time session to speak to gerontology students about the lived experience of living with a life limiting illness, being involved in palliative care or long term care or experiencing the death of a loved one through illness or advanced age. I am the instructor and I work in palliative care, however, I think the students would learn so much from hearing about the lived experience of someone who is willing to share with them.

This would be a very informal session where someone could share there story and be willing to answer questions. This would hopefully give the volunteer the opportunity to share what they think students should know as they move out into the field. The class is small (9 students next term as of right now).

This is a very informal opportunity to speak to an eager and engaged small group (9-12) of students about your experiences.

It has been so rewarding to go from an idea to working with such a great group of dedicated people from so many different organizations towards a very fun and rewarding project. Several extremely engaged PVN members expressed interest in being part of piloting a patient virtual care peer support system. I am confident that this is the beginning of many more exciting collaborations!
