With the upcoming opening of a new Seniors Health and Wellness Centre in Kamloops, the Thompson Region Division of Family Practice and Interior Health would like to provide communication materials that are clear and educational for patients in the Kamloops community. If you would like to review and provide feedback on draft materials, please read on for more details and how to get involved.

Aim

The aim of this opportunity is to ensure that educational materials at the Seniors Health and Wellness Centre reflect the knowledge needs of patients. Recommendations from patient partners will be taken into consideration in the development of the final printed materials. Please note, while each recommendation will be carefully considered and impact decisions on the final materials, a direct reflection of each recommendation may not be visible in the final printed copy.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of consult on the spectrum of engagement (www.iap2.org). The promise to you is that the health care partner will listen to and acknowledge your ideas and concerns, and provide feedback on how your input affected the decision.

Eligibility

  • Diverse patient partners living in Kamloops and surrounding area.
  • Previously attended a PVN orientation session and completed the Volunteer Agreement. If you have not attended an orientation session but you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Jacquelyne at 250.879.1077 or jfoidart@bcpsqc.ca

Logistics

  • Vacancies: up to 10
  • Format:
1) Patient Information document will be shared via email, mail or in-person immediately after submitting an RSVP form. 2) April 20, 2017 12pm-1pm: Introductory call for questions, to discuss feedback method and to discuss specific areas of the document that cannot be changed. 3) Patient Partners will review the document at home and provide feedback via email, scan or over the phone. 4) Feedback deadline is 12pm April 27, 2017 5) The final document will be shared back with patient partners via email, mail or in-person by end of May 2017.

Reimbursement

Patient partners will not have any expenses for this opportunity.

Background

The development of the Seniors Health and Wellness (SHWC) Centre at the North Hills Mall is a new Specialized Care Program specifically focused on older adults. Seniors health has been identified by Interior Health as a strategic priority and efforts are being made to ensure that the voices of older adults are heard in the development of the centre and related patient education materials.
