The B.C. Ministry of Health recognizes spiritual health as an integral part of person-centred care that encompasses all dimensions of a person: spiritual, the physical, the mental, the social, and the emotional.
Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) at Fraser Health is a program designed to help people develop skills in providing spiritual and emotional care.
The Fraser Health CPE Advisory is a regional committee that supports and guides Fraser Health Authority’s Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) program. The advisory aims to:
The purpose of this works is to
1. Review and evaluate the quality of the Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) Program
2. To support the CPE leadership.
The Fraser Health CPE Advisory group is actively recruiting patient partners to include the patient perspective on the quality, functioning, improvement, and development of the CPE program.
The advisory meets for two one-hour hybrid meetings per year and be available for ad hoc consultation in between, if needed. The first advisory meeting is in the first week of Feb 2025.
Spiritual health practitioners are clinically trained Fraser Health inter-professional care team members. They provide whole-person care support, to address, spiritual and emotional needs of patients, essential care partners, families, and healthcare staff. Their aim is to facilitate wellness by understanding and supporting personal beliefs, values, traditions, cultural practices, and emotional well-being.
Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) at Fraser Health is a program designed to help people develop skills in providing spiritual and emotional care. CPE is a well-known training program that uses hands-on experience and reflection to teach spiritual care. It combines personal and group guidance with real-life practice in caring for others. By combining practical experience with deep spiritual reflection, CPE helps students learn how to support people during times of change, crisis, illness, or ongoing challenges. CPE prepares professionals to offer psychospiritual care in various settings, including hospitals, long-term care homes, correctional facilities, mental health centers, congregations, and community organization.

- Willing & comfortable to share health care experiences in a group setting
- Have access to technology and the internet to participate in the engagement opportunity
- Comfortable using technology to attend online/virtual meetings
- An interest in improving health care services
- The time to participate in the engagement opportunity
- Exposure to or interaction with spiritual care would be appreciated, but is not a requirement.
